Fed: Tampa agent says ship unseaworthy
The Tampa's Norwegian owner says its freighter is in an unseaworthy condition, andno military action should be taken to force it out of Australian waters.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen shipping line regional director PETER DEXTER says the 460 boatpeople aboard should be disembarked by boat, taken to Christmas Island, and then airliftedout.
He told ABC radio he's aware of media reports the Australia Defence Force is preparingto forcibly move the Tampa from Christmas Island back to international waters.
He said yesterday the vessel should not move because it's not licensed to carry 460people on a sea voyage.
Meanwhile, Mr DEXTER says the condition of those requiring medical attention improveddramatically after treatment.
