Fed: Govt set to continue to attack oppn as economic vandals

The federal government is expected to ramp up its attack on the opposition today over
its plans to block various key budget measures.

The opposition's formally agreed to oppose Labor's $2.5 billion plan to scrap a tax
exemption on condensate .. a light crude oil extracted from natural gas.

The opposition says the tax will push up domestic gas prices in Western Australia.

The condensate bill adds to a list of laws the opposition has pledged to block in the
Senate .. including the tax on alco-pops .. and changes to the Medicare levy surcharge
threshold.

It is still considering its position on a luxury car tax .. but will block part of
a trade practices bill .. aimed of introducing a tighter test for predatory pricing.

Prime Minister KEVIN RUDD and Treasurer WAYNE SWAN branded the opposition economic
vandals yesterday for vowing to block legislation .. a message they are expected to continue
to push today.
